The General Objectives of the Language and Translation Center
1. Develop the LTC academically.
2. Conduct entrepreneurial activities that serve the students, the university, local and international communities.
3. Develop the teaching staff.
4. Develop the culture of entrepreneurship, apply its concepts and ensure the application of the quality insurance criteria in teaching.
5. Create an English teaching atmosphere that encourages the students and the teachers alike to have a positive attitude towards the English language and to encourage them to learn and use it in their academic and daily lives.
The Specific objectives of the Language and Translation Center
1. Develop the Language and Translation Center academically
a. Create two new majors in English language, English Language and Instructional Technology Program and Modern Language and Public Relations, in line with the trend of using multidisciplinary programs that commensurate with the needs of the current labor market and the strategy of the university and the national strategy.
b. Develop the educational curricula and textbooks.
c. Develop existing courses and introduce new courses in line with the need of the university.
d. Develop the English placement test.
2. Implement entrepreneurial `activities that serve the students at the university local and international levels at large.
a. Follow-up the center's website and update its social networking pages.
b. Establish the Arabic Language and the English language Clubs and activate them.
c. Conduct language competitions such as The Spelling Bee Competition.
d. Establish a modern language lab.
e. Host volunteers who are native speakers of the languages taught at LTC each semester so as to develop the linguistic and communicative skills for the students and the academic and administrative staff as well.
f. Organize an annual language summer camp for the schools and universities students and the academic and administrative staff.
3. Develop the teaching staff
a. Activate and use the latest technologies and pedagogies to develop the language teaching and learning materials by applying this technology gradually in all the courses offered by LTC.
b. Attract qualified teachers to teach English at LTC.
c. Appoint an English qualified teacher who is a native speaker of English.
d. Conduct courses to develop the teaching staff skills in the areas of teaching methods, the use of technology, the development of curriculum and alternative assessment and many others.
e. Hold lectures and training by the teaching staff to their colleagues at the Center as well as to the other academic staff at the university in the relevant fields.
f. Carry out scientific and procedural research individually or jointly on the one hand and with researchers from other universities on the other hand.
4. Develop the culture of entrepreneurship, apply its concepts and ensure the application of the quality insurance criteria in teaching.
a. Review the courses offered at the Center and develop these courses in line with the concept of leadership and excellence.
b. Use the process of student-centered learning and involve him/her in the evaluation process.
c. Linking the Language and Translation Center with the local community and networking with students through the many activities and joint ventures.
d. Demonstrate the importance of volunteering by giving lectures and making activities both inside and outside the university.
5. Create an English teaching atmosphere that encourages the students and the teachers alike to have a positive attitude towards the English language and encourage them to learn and use English in their academic and daily lives.
a. Encourage foreign visitors to come to the university.
b. Encourage student exchange with international universities and institutions for the purpose of the development of languages.
c. Make projects with other international educational institutions that teach the English language, such as AMIDEAST and the British Council.
e. Develop the ways and activities that encourage the students to speak English.
